Trinixx's Dezo:
A Pragmatic Approach to Phantasy Star II

Trinixx's Recommended Nei-item Configurations

The Neiarmour
Since I have Kain equipping two Lacon Shields, I give the Neiarmour to Rudo.

The Neicape and Neicrown
Anna can't equip either of these Nei-items, and Shir can only equip the Neicape. Hence, these items normally rest with whichever female happens to be on the team at the moment (i.e., either Shir or Amy, although I rarely use either.) In a way, I always thought the game 'loaded the dice' to motivate the player to use Amy for the final stages; although she can equip both the Neicape and the Neicrown, you don't need her as much as the game would have you believe.  ;)

The Neiemel
This item provides a whopping 118 defensive armour points, (23 points over the Neiarmour!) and only Shir or Anna can equip it; since Anna must fight, in my opinion, two-handed to be at least semi-useful, I wouldn't remove the Neiemel from Shir's possession. If Amy and Shir were on the team at the same time, I would likely have Amy retain the Neicrown and Neicape, particularly since Shir is likely to be using a Mirror Emel or two Lacon Daggers (e.g., Neicape: 88 + Neicrown: 48 = 136 DPs.) If Amy is greater in terms of defense, (most probably) have Shir walk last. This configuration should equalize the Neiemel between the two women.

The Neimet
With my perpetual mind-slipping at re-equipping something other than the Mogic-cap after leaving a Dezoan town, I figure that early in the Dezo stage of the game that the Neimet is better off with Kain. Near the end of the game, I transfer it to Rolf, to equalize their relative defensive power, especially since I wouldn't have Kain going into the last battles with melee weapons equipped.

The Neishield
Due to his inability to equip higher-end Crystal, Lacon or Neiarmours, I give the Neishield to Hugh; when he leaves the party near the end of the game, the Neishield goes to Kain. He therefore has a Lacon and Neishield equipped.

The Neishot
Only Rudo can handle this cannon, unfortunately. If it could be equipped by another character, it would have made the choices more difficult, and more interesting.

The Neislasher
Only Anna can equip the Neislasher. I would have preferred Neiboots instead.   ;)
