| If you have an urge to cut, try as hard as you can not to! Sometimes it's really hard, but if you can get your mind occupied with something else, sometimes the urge will go away. I'm going to put any ideas up on this page. Email me if you have any, I WILL give you credit! You know yourself better than anyone- if you think a particular activity will just make you want to cut more, don't do it! |

| ~cross-stitch *sometimes not a good idea, as this involves a needle* ~buy a latch-hook rug kit from a store (Wal-Mart has lots), & make a rug. ~listen to music *not always a good idea, unless you know the lyrics aren't triggering for you* ~read ~write ~pray ~visit fun web sites (go to the non-SI links part of this site for some!) ~read the comics section of the paper ~look up something on the internet that you've always wanted to know- non SI related would be best ~play with a pet, if you have one ~vent to your friends (or someone you can trust) ~go for a walk/run. ~exercise (not a good idea if you are fighting/recovering from/have an ED) ~get a dart board, and throw darts *again, not always a good idea. An alternative to this is the sticky ball things... like a dart board, but safer* ~if you don't have a dart board, go to a semi-remote area where you know that no one will bother you. Then throw rocks at trees, or other rocks, or anything. ~paint ~draw ~if you keep a diary, read an entry from a really happy day/time ~clean! Take out whatever it is that's making you want to cut on the dust! :) ~go shopping ~make yourself wait to cut (Exaple: if you want to cut, don't let yourself cut for at least 15, 20 minutes, and see if you even still want to cut then) *may not be a good idea: you know yourself better than I do, use good judgement on this one!* ~cook *use caution!* ~read/find/copy recipes (not suggested for anyone with a history and/or current ED) ~write poetry (thanks to Hellfire) |
