I'm here to let you know that self harm does not have to consume your life. Hurting yourself is a coping mechanism that only works in the short term. It is possible to learn long term ways to deal with the emotional pain in your life. I know it's hard...but it can be done.
There is a way through the darkness of depression and self harm. I used to cut myself. Thoughts of SI dominated my life. I didn't want to stop. I believed that self harm proved I was valid and stopped me being no-one. These days I no longer cut myself. I realise that my feelings are important and that I'm a decent person.
