I had gone to New Delhi Consulate for my VISA renewal. So I can give you some details
about New Delhi Consulate:
If you want to stand in the queue to get the VISA then you should reach there early in the
morning(by 5:30 AM). The queue does not starts at the consulate gate. When I went for my VISA
(Nov. '98), The initial queue was on some road which was about 400 meters from consualte gate,
then after 6:30 AM they will move you to the road closer to consulate gate(now you are 100 meters
away from the consulate window), then at 7:30 AM they will allow you to move towards the consulate
window(after checking you with metal detector, and looking inside your bags). The VISA application
form will be distributed, which you are supposed to fill before you reach the window. Don't
forget to keep a stapler or gum to paste your passport size photo to the application form.
Your documents will be checked on the consulate window, then they will let you in. Inside they
might ask couple of questions and ask for more documents(in my case they did not ask me any questions
or to show more documents other than the first five in the above list which I had submitted any way).
After they approve, you will have to come out and pay the VISA fee at the Cashier counter.
From 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM they distribute the stamped passport. Be there early(again you will have
to stand in a queue but fortunately that starts right at the Consulate window)!!!. There are more
than one window, so check your token to find out which window you should be standing on.
'Njoy and Good Luck!!!
