Once upon a time when we were very young

( below 15 ) we built model airplanes and dreamed.
Way back in the 40's. Some of us in Australia, some in Finland.
Then moved to sailplanes and soared the thermals.
When grounded still built model airplanes.
Eventually graduated to kayaks.

The 1994 Team
    1994 Suomi Meloo - Kangaroo Team Went Public.

    Making a lasting impact on the global kayaking community the Team is since then known as "The Illustrious"
    Suomi Meloo Route stretched from Iisalmi down to Kotka by the Gulf of Finland
    Learned: Remember to Empty Mobile Home Toilet Tank in Time.

    1995 Suomi Meloo - wiser but not richer.

    Muddled through a second time.
    Route from Pielavesi to Lahti.
    First time a lady on the team.
    Learned: Camp site cottages with saunas and/or showers is it.

    Slowly catching the gist of it.
    Route from Ähtäri to Tammisaari, 617 Km
    Ladies made up half of the team.
    Some Camp Cottages were dandy, others weren't.
    Learned: Amateur Internet reporting as we paddled was a pain in the ***.

    1997 Suomi Meloo - growing professional?

    Aussie friends from Sweden widened international palette.
    Route from Ilomantsi to Lappeenranta, 562 Km
    Planned extension to Russia dropped.
    Beauty of ladies enhanced the charm of team.
    Learned: Forget winter cardboard shield in front of radiator and Land Rover engine boils.

The noisiest team has landed
    1998 Hello World!

    656 km from Kiuruvesi to Kouvola done by team of 3 Aussies, 2 Yanks, 1 Kraut, 1 Kiwi and 10 Finns (barely out of the woods).
    About as international as we get.
    Learned: Paddle sloppy and you swim!
