The Greek words for spiritual gifts are δομα and χαρισμα. Now, I am not going to mention all of the gifts, because I am one of those who believes that there is more gifts that are given to a person than what is given by God than what is in the Bible. They are given to us by the Godhead. Now, we have been given one or many gift(s). Each one of us are part of a body. It is a body of Christ. We are given different gifts and we all do not have the same gifts. You see, God put us on this earth so that we can help each other. We, as a body, should not be independent of each other. We need each other. There is not one body part who is lesser or greater than another. We need to support each other. The Bible does say that we need to bear each other's burdens. The body is also a team. There is no 'I' in team. We work together as a team. For those who find themselves lonely or out of a ekklesia or church family, pray to God because God will show you, by His timing, where to go. We are a team. We a a family. We are the body of Christ. We help each other. When someone is in need, we help them. Since we are a team, when one looks bad, we all look bad. When we look good, we all look good. We are a team and we all need to work together. And more importantly, we need to be one in the body of Christ. There should be no 'somebodies' and nor 'nobodies' in the body of Christ and there should be no 'laity' or 'clergy' in the body of Christ, we all are brothers in the body of Christ. (Matthew 23:8-12) If a body part become weak or vulnerable, pick him or her up and restore Him to the correct state. The reason that we need to be a family is that we all prophesy in part (1 Corinthians 13:9). And that tells my that because we are different and diverse in gifts and personality, that the Lord may choose to work with us in different ways and depending on what gifts another has, as a body of Christ, we can build each other up. Okay, I am not advocating Five Fold Ministry, Kingdom Dominion, or Kingdom Now, but I am going to bring up this scripture. This is Ephesians 4:11-16. He gave us apostles, prophets, evangelists, prophets, and teachers to equip the body for service until we reach unity and maturity. Now, some people regard these people as 'gifted men', but these people forget that in 1 Peter 5:3 that they are not to be overlords of the body of Christ but to be examples of the body of Christ. They are also not to be called 'Apostle', 'Teacher', 'Prophet', 'Pastor', or 'Evangelist'. (Matt. 23:8-12) They can have these gifts and that is okay, but the body must know that these people know that these 'gifted men and women' be know among the sheep. Now, with gifts, everyone is a 'gifted man or woman' and may have to lead at some time and a body part must function sometime. Now, it does not matter if you are a man or a woman, if you have the gifts, use them. God did not give you the gifts so that you can squander them. To tell you the truth, it is a thing that we'll be held accountable for because He gave us this gift for us to help the body. There are some churches who put 'gifts' on the throne. What I am saying is that a person can have a particular gift and everyone would give him or her high esteem. It is usually an apostle or a pastor. Now, I am going to discuss something else. It is called gift centered pride. There are people who have a gift and feel very powerful because of it. And it is the same thing as regular pride. There is another thing called cessationalism. It is based from Ephesians 2:20 which says that God's house is based on the foundation of the apostles and prophets which they say that modern day apostles and prophets don't exist and they say that love replaces the sign gifts. It is also designed to protect people from false prophecy. There is no evidence that says that the sign gifts or any type of gift has disappeared from Christianity. Now, about the gift of love. That is a gift that all Christians should have. It doesn't cancel all gifts. It says that if you do something whether in your gifting or doing something in your daily routine or doing something period and if you do not have love, then you are nothing. So, yes, the gifts do exist. And I believe that there are more gifts than those which are listed in the Bible, but I do believe in the inerracy of the Bible. He gives these gifts to us to help the body of Christ. He has given us each other to build each other up and to love each other as if we were a family. Thank you.
