Authority

This section contains Bible verses which I will focus on during this article. These verses are from the NKJV:

Matthew 23:8-12 But you are not to be called 'Rabbi' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' , for you have one Father , and he is in heaven. Nor you are to be called 'teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ. The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
1 Peter 5:2-3 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers----not because you must, not because you are willing, as God wants you to be, not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock
Romans 13:1 Everyone, must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Psalms 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trsut in man.

Authority, in Greek, is εξουσια, which means power. All of us are leaders. As Christians, we are meant to be servant-leaders. A body is meant to serve others. And, it is meant to lead others when they are weak or hurting. We need each other. No person should be over another. The pulpit-pew person should not be taking place. One part of the body is functioning and the rest of the body isn't. That is not what the Lord wants. As Christians, the body of Christ and I mean the body as a whole, are to be leaders and servants to each and every part in the body. We are meant the be servants to each other. As Christians, we are commanded to love. We are also required to bear each others' burdens. The body supports each other. The pew-pulpit system, in this case, is not what I believe what God wants. We are a body which supports each other. We love each other When it says that we need to love each other as ourselves, that means that we need to put other first and ourselves last. Remember, that humility comes before honor. You will be exalted when you become less and less. If you try to be powerful or something that you are not, you will lose that. Christians need to work among the saints. There is a reason why the pastors of the churches become busy and sometimes, overburdened. That part of the body is on overload and is about to implode. Now, I will not doubt that they are a great source of information, but I feel that they need to step down and become one of us and invest in the rest of the body just as we do. Man can not lead the whole bunch of people, it puts them on overload! They can become overburdenned and they can become stressed out! Now, when it says that we should obey our leaders, I seriously do not think that it means that we are to obey them, because the leader is supposed to set a good example. I also do not think that if you see someone who sets an example that you need to give them a title. I believe that if you see anyone following a good example of Christ, follow them quietly. The way that you get people to recognize you as a good example is the way down and not the way up. Don't be surpised if the Lord reveals that a person is a good example to the rest of the body. If you see a good example, follow it. A good example is one that follows the Word of God. I want to say that everyone needs to be a leader. Everyone's gifts make him a leader because since we are a body, the Lord will need us to function in our gifting. That is why man cannot run a church service or a church anything, because he is in the way of what the Lord is trying to do. And you will also find that there is no place in the Bible that says that you need to demand submission. That just doesn't happen. To fear man is not in the Bible. To fear God is. The whole body needs to fear God only and trust God only. The body's focus is on the Lord because he is the Chief Shepherd.
