Four People
This page contrasts four different lifestyles. One behaves in the way of Christ, but three of them do not.
- Hedonism. This lifestyle is one who is of the world. It follows the world. The person who follows this lifestyle is of the world. Christ and the world are enemies. The person either livss or chosen to live as the 'old man'. Sometimes, the Christian sin, which means that at the time, they were behaving as the 'old man'. This worldly person does not embrace Christ. This person has an impure heart and acts in that fashion. He prefers to walk in darkness.
- The Judge. This person is eager to judge another based on what he sees is wrong. He is a person who is quick to do so. God tells us not to judge, because if we judge, then to same measure which we judge will be measured back to you.
- Legalism. This person follows a written code. The Law is a written code. Anything without Jesus is a written code. Now, if you try to do good by your own efforts then you are following a written code. The written code will not save. You need Jesus to save. Climbing the ladder does not save.
- The Christian life. The Christian knows that Jesus has chosen him and the Christian has accepted Jesus as Savior. The Christian loves God and follows Jesus' higher law, which is to love. However, although Jesus saves, an authentic life is to obey the higher law, which is the law of love.
Now, you will not go to hell if you practice the first three, but they are poor examples of what you need to do as a Christian. Hedonism works as the world does. The judge thinks that he is the better Christian. The legalism is always struggling to do better because he has not done good enough. Your lives are pointless if you pursue these paths. Follow Christ. He is the way out. His burden is light. He loves you and wants the best for you. Call on Jesus. Believe in Him, it's worth it.
