(May 10, 2001) World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. in conjunction with its joint venture partner, NBC, today announced that it will discontinue its professional football league, the XFL. The decision was made after determining that the additional investment required to further develop the XFL was not commensurate with the potential reuturn and the risk inherent in pursuing the venture.
