The last pony I got from stores was Bouquet. Tragic, huh?

Well, I must admit it--I thought the Brush 'n Grows were a stupid idea. I mean, a pony whose hair grew when you brushed it? What the heck? A better idea than ponies whose tails spun around--but not by much. So I'm not entirely sure why I chose a Brush 'n Grow pony instead something else from this year--a Twice as Fancy pony, for example. Perhaps they were the only ponies out at the time. (Often when I went into stores there would only be one series of ponies, it seems.)

Anyway, I do know why I chose her instead of Twisty Tail, Braided Beauty, or any of the other Brush 'n Grows. For one thing, she was a unicorn. For another thing, she was the prettiest pony in the set. But the thing that really set her apart was her name. All the other ponies in that set had names related to hair or appearance: Ringlets, Pretty Vision, Twisty Tail, Curly Locks, and (the worst name of them all) Braided Beauty. I thought that was ridiculous. There was no way a pony called "Curly Locks" or "Twisty Tail" was joining my herd! Bouquet was the only pony with a non-hair/appearance related name--and so Bouquet was my choice!

However, I never understood how Bouquet's name related to her symbol. Her name means "a bunch of flowers" and her symbol is . . . a hat? WHY???

In personality, Bouquet was somewhat like Fizzy (perhaps because they were in the same mold?)--she was bouncy and silly. However, unlike Fizzy, Bouquet was actually fairly intelligent. She acted frivolous to hide her deep-set shyness. Unfortunately, this ruse did nothing to improve Parasol's opinion of her. Of all the ponies in the herd, Parasol disliked Bouquet the most. She considered Bouquet to be "a waste of resources" when her unicorn power was merely making her hair grow longer (especially since Bouquet often tripped on her hair after working her magic.) Eventually Parasol grudgingly admitted that Bouquet was a contributing part of the herd, but she never quite tamed her dislike of the the poor unicorn.

I seldom actually activated the Brush 'n Grow feature . . . as I said before, I thought the idea was less than inspired. I liked her much more when I thought of her as "Bouquet, the unicorn" instead of "Bouquet, the Brush 'n Grow". She really did have a beautiful color scheme. I kept her in pristine condition right up until she was lost at the Garage Sale of Doom.
