I think Baby Heart Throb was the first pony I got in Year 4. Anyway, she's the only one I remember specifically picking out of a store. I got her because . . . well, because she came with a playpen, actually.
You see, on the front of Baby Moondancer's card, there's a picture of her leaping out of a playpen, but Baby Moondancer herself didn't come with one! So when I saw that Baby Heart Throb did, I saw a chance to make that picture come to life! (Although I almost got Baby Lickety-Split, who had a nifty wagon.)
Despite the cute accessories, I thought the Beddy-Bye Eye babies were freakish. I can't believe Hasbro forced those weird eyes (they look possessed!) onto those poor baby ponies. I got used to the eyes on Baby Heart Throb after a while, but I could never understand why Hasbro put them in . . . especially since you had to turn the pony completely upside-down to get the eyes to close! So basically you either had a pony standing upright with freakish open eyes or a pony lying on her back with her eyes closed and all four feet sticking straight up in the air, looking dead.
Baby Heart Throb was the first baby pegasus to join my herd. I never got her mother in either the non-So-Soft or So-Soft version, so she was an orphan.
Baby Heart Throb was a thin, somewhat frail pony (inspired by her emanciated mold), but that was no excuse for her being so whiny. She worried and fretted about going on excursions with the other babies, being far the least curious of the babies. Unlike Baby Lickety-Split, who was uncooperative because she was stubborn (and a little spoiled), Baby Heart Throb was uncooperative because she didn't like change and adventure. However, Baby Moondancer and Cuddles always convinced her to come along in the end. Baby Heart Throb was younger than any other babies beside Dibbles and Nibbles, and she would have been humiliated if she'd had to stay behind with the newborns.
Look at the picture of Baby Heart Throb on this page--she has wings on her hearts in the picture! Why didn't she in real life? Hmph. I was surprised when I got a replacement Baby Heart Throb (the original was lost to the Garage Sale of Doom) because I remembered my original as having winged hearts. The tricks the memory can play, eh? One of these days I'm going to get some light blue paint and just ADD the wings to those hearts!
