Deep in the Australian bush
The LYREBIRD belongs;
He dances and he fills the bush
With other songbirds' songs
He hardly ever makes a sound
When his long, long tail hangs flat,
But when he dances on his mound
This bird's a copycat!
His tail goes up like this; and then
he copies the whip-bird,
The thrush, the kookaburra, wren,
And other birds he's heard.
He sings their songs so expertly
That no-body can tell -
And have you the ability
To copy him as well?
