Something Missing
The lights of the city start to dim
As the glorious sun starts its rise upon the mountain
And his golden rays shine down on the streets of Honolulu
But still shrouded in darkness lies my little valley
It’s people still in slumber, still dreaming of a better tomorrow
Moving in like the plague, comes the rays of the sun
Bringing in the morning light
And driving away the moon and the stars
Like frighten little children.
The birds start their wailing, calling in the warmth they so miss
The simple people stir, they wake
Brushing out of their eyes the moondust that collected in their sleep
My alarm goes off like music to my ears
And my eyes open to see your face staring back at me
Such a simple smile, so small and pure
That it is missed by most out in the city
By the people who are too busy, to even greet one another as they pass by
Lights start coming on in all the houses, and in the soft light of the morning
They look like stars, which found a home, here on earth.
A last gentle caress of your face, and the fast pace of the morning takes over
As we both emerge out of bed.
Getting ready for another day out in the big city life
But somewhere deep in my heart
Lies the innocence, and purity I once held captive
In a life I lived, so very long ago
And one day, in some other life, some other place
Innocence shall make herself known
To the masses who have missed her presence for so long
