Oh, My Heavens this cannot be true Someone is playing a trick on me and
you The days, the weeks, the years...where have they flown You were a baby
and now you are grown I remember so well the day you were born It snowed
in March and there was frost on the corn One day before you were actually
due When I felt ill I thought it was the flu "Get to the hospital" Daddy
said with a shout And then we waited twelve hours before you popped
out The doctor had said it would be very soon He didn't realize you dance
to your own tune It was a lesson I learned well through the years You
taught me patience for my pleas to hurry always fell on deaf ears And now
it's your birthday once again How many times have we counted to ten Oh, my
sweet child how many does this make Today is your birthday....thirty candles
will be on your cake Far too quickly the years have taken flight But I can
still see the child I held so tight That wonderful little grin and those
beautiful eyes Nothing has really changed it's just that you've grown
wise Through the years two lessons I learned from you One was patience the
other is corny but true A mother's love does not diminish with years It
multiplies daily whether through happiness or tears
