lazy days are bliss
sleeping late into the day
Sundays are perfect
slowly reading the paper
liesurely writing poems
taking out my paints
the canvas fills with color
splashes of crimson
Hollyhocks bloom once again
Winter cannot stop their birth
a smile and a laugh
from a baby's precious face
brightening the world
making grandparents happy
for all of humanity
for a family
to belong to each other
one ingredient
love matters more than anything
DNA has no place here
despite who one sees
regardless of what one hears
race, faith and color
should be meaningless to all
accept the human race now
turn it on and watch
icons begin to appear
connection is far too slow
impatient to read e-mail
have my poems been accepted
place cash in the slot
make a bet and watch it spin
do you win or lose
odds are always against you
play again...hope never dies
