MY THOUGHTS DRIFT TO YOU

I sit here watching the sunset
And my thoughts drift to you
How often we sat together like this
And as my eyes begin to moisten
I notice the colors are so vibrant
The red, the yellow, the purple, the blue

As I sit here watching the sunset
And my thoughts drift to you
When did it first happen to us
My eyes continue to moisten
And I reflect upon our life together
I was so sure your love was true

But I sit here watching the sunset
And my thoughts drift to you
I'm alone now with only the breeze
My eyes release a single tear
And I realize that at last
I'm free to begin my life anew
