From the book History of Walworth County Wisconsin, by Albert Clayton Beckwith, publ. 1912 - Pages 560 - 561 JOHN SYNG SPOOR, son of William SPOOR and Christine WILCOX, was born in Erie county, New York, March 20, 1805. In 1835 he married Mariette, daughter of Jesse BIVINS and Lydia BYINGTON. She was born at Clarence, New York, October 5, 1816, and died at Burlington, Wisconsin, August 10, 1898. In 1837 he came from Washtenaw county, Michigan, to the Meacham settlement and presently made his home in East Troy. In 1842 he bought land in sections 10, 11,12, of Lyons, and lived in that town till his death, April 2, 1867. His son Charles (1843- 1909), a soldier of the Twenty-eight Infantry, married Almira J., daughter of Winslow P. STORMS, in 1866. Other children lived in other counties and states.
