RODERICK MERRICK was born August 5, 1794; married Rebecca GATES, January 24, 
1828; came to Spring Prairie in 1837; died May 18, 1870.  His wife was born 
July 16, 1806; died February 24, 1895.  Their children were: Flavia (Mrs. 
Alonzo DANIELS), Hannah Rose (Mrs. German MOORE), Gordon Williston (married 
Celeste Annette, daughter of Jeremiah SHEFFIELD and Hannah Gardner SMITH), 
Oscar D. (married Emily, daughter of Nathaniel BELL and Sarah COOK), Elnora, 
Albert H.
