From the book History of Walworth County Wisconsin, by Albert Clayton Beckwith, publ. 1912 - Page 492 CHARLES MORRIS BLACKMAN, son of Alva BLACKMAN and Almira BRIGGS, was born at Bridgewater, Oneida county, New York, October 10, 1833; came to Stoughton in 1847 and in 1856 engaged in business. In 1863 he came to Whitewater as cashier of the First National Bank, of which he was from 1873 until his death, April 19, 1912, president. He was also a trustee of the White Memorial Library bequest.
