From the book History of Walworth County Wisconsin, by Albert Clayton Beckwith, publ. 1912 - Page 483 - 484 WILLIAM CHENEY ALLEN, born at Hoosic, New York, February 2, 1814; married, October 7, 1840, Mary A. McCONKEY at Voorheesville - a town or hamlet now not easily to be found in New York geography. He came in the same year, as a lawyer, to Delavan, and in June, 1843, became probate judge, holding that post till January, 1847. In 1850 he became county judge, and resigned in 1856, in which year he became president of the Walworth county bank. He was a member of Assembly in 1866 and 1867, having been chosen successively over Joseph F. LYON and Julius A. TREAT. He removed to Racine, where he died January 12, 1887.
