GEORGE RUE ALLEN, son of Samuel ALLEN and Maria HIGH, was born at Hartford, 
Washington county, New York, August 9, 1838; came to Bloomfield in 1841; 
married Mary, daughter of James GRIER; was thirteen terms a member of the 
county board and six times its chairman; served in the Assembly in 1880, having 
defeated Cyril R. ALDRICH, a rock-rooted Democrat of Spring Prairie.  He died 
at Lake Geneva, January 1, 1901.
