Hi! My name is Sharon Littlefield and I am now 33years old. 13 months ago I was diagnosed with PPCM 4 days following the birth of my first child. I had developed Toxemia that went undetected for several months(actually until 4 days before Hannah Kay's birth). Hannah was born via a c-section after failure to dialate. Her entire birth is still a complete blurr to me because I was so sick. I went home day 3 post partum despite stating that I had some difficutly breating. Within less then 12 hours I was being rushed to the emergency room with Congestive heart failure. My EF at this time was 25%. Being away from my newborn daughter was terrible but she was able to visit me in the hospital after I was stablized. My Cardiologist felt that would be the best Medicine for me.

I was sent home from the hospital 3 days later with 8 different meds and can now say that fortunately my EF is now at 55% with no apparent heart damage. My cardiologist is a wonderful Godsend.

I am very depressed by the fact that my husband and I will not be able to have any more children. This news is completely devastating to me and at times unacceptable. If anyone has successfully given birth with no further complications following a previous diagnosis of PPCM I would love to hear from you.

I am so thankful to have found this support group! Unless you have gone through this, the average person can not even begin to fathom the emotions that take place when this diagnosis is made. God Bless you all!
