Hi, My name is Robin Putney, let me tell you about myself. I am 31 years old, mother of 2 and married. I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in July of 1995. During my last pregnancy. After delivery, my ef was 25%, 6 years later it is 40%. I was able to go back to work about 3 months after the delivery. But I haven't worked since 1997. I still have problems. I have trouble breathing plus a fast heart rate. My heart is also enlarged. At this point I have been in heart failure but I am not currently. I also have asthma to so that doesn't help things. My cardiologist told me that usually people that are going to make a full recovery do within the first 2 years. I have learned to live with the fact that will never be the same person that I was before. But right now I am just glad to be alive and here for my children. Right now they are able to keep things under control with medicine. I am on Bumex, K-dur, Univasc, Doroxlyn, Speroqtone, Wellbuterion, Effexor, Ventolin, Flovent. The one thing that this disease has taught me is that you can make through it as long as you have a good support system. It has also brought my husband and I a lot closer together.
