| Welcome to my page dedicated to the genius of The Brothers Pang, as expressed in their film The Eye. Check in for rumours, news, etc. | |||||||||||||
| At the age of two, Mun went blind. Eighteen years later, a new and risky corneal transplant operation restores her vision; but a series of inexplicable events lead her to believe there is more than meets the eye to her new-found gift of sight. Mysterious, black-clad figures seem to foreshadow sudden deaths, and horribly disfigured denizens haunt her everyday existence Unable to define her own identity, she comes to understand that whenever she looks into a mirror she doesn't see herself but instead she sees another woman: Ling, the original owner of the corneas.
These nightmarish visions are driving Mun insane. Desperate to uncover the truth, Mun visits Ling's old village in northern Thailand. There she discovers Ling was a clairvoyant, but Ling's inability to save the villagers from a fire that she predicted sent her into a deep depression. Overcome with sorrow and regret, she ultimately committed suicide. Now it seems that Mun has inherited Ling's fate and the misery that comes with the ability to see more than one wants to see. Just as she is about to leave Thailand...I don't want to give the whole thing away if you haven't had the chance to see it. I highly recommend it. |

| Last year, The Eye was the top-grossing film in Singapore, Thailand, and Korea, as well as the top-grossing horror film in Hong Kong and right here in the UK.
The filmmakers are currently gearing up to shoot a sequel this summer with the same cast and crew |

| Update: 4/02/03 | Review on lovehkfilm.com: "The Eye is probably the most effectively told horror film out of Hong Kong in a long while." | ||||||||||||
| Update: 4/03/03 | A lot of non-HK based fans of the eye (like me) might not know that in addition to being a beautiful and talented actresses, Lee Sin-Je (Mun) is also a very successful singer. She has six LPs out. Listen here. Lawrence Chou (Wah in the film) also has a musical career. Maybe that's the thing in Hong Kong? | ||||||||||||
