We are busy working on our schoolyard, to create a home we can share with all of the wonderful little creatures that the Lord God, our Heavenly Father, Master Creator, blesses our lives in the opportunity to share with. Please come back often to share in this wonderful experience with us. We will be posting more pictures as well as essays and poetry.
This is our koi pond where ten beautiful koi, many insects, and little frogs and toads live.
Here are the koi!
This is one of the little toads that came to visit. He croaked a beautiful little song, and was soon joined by MANY little friends. We had a wonderful time observing and sketching. Please come back soon to see pictures of the evening and also of the ongoing Nature Project that this little friend started. We gathered little friends and noticed the differences in the appearances and sounds made by the females and males. The next morning we photographed and collected strands of eggs. Now we are watching and waiting for the growing little tadpoles.
On Nature Days we all get to have fun together! Somedays we work in the garden:
Squash is one of our favorite crops:
Something is always growing in the compost pile! Last fall we each carved our own little pumpkin. We roasted pumpkin seeds and made pumpkin pies. What we did not use went into the compost pile. This spring the compost pile is covered with a Pumpkin Patch!
We have started several little gardens for quiet times of private devotion. These little gardens are filled with flowers and plants to attract bees, birds, and butterflies. We will expand the gardens each year.
This is our Sacred Heart Garden:

Baby Koi:
Our doors and hearts are always open to animals needing help. We have cared for baby birds (bluebirds and mockingbirds), squirrels, an armadillo, and tiny orphaned baby red bats in our little wildlife nursery! These are the baby bats:
