The Fire's Fury
It's dark, it's hot,
I can not see
Except the glow
In front of me.
My partner's breath
Behind my back
As we move in
The first attack.
I hear a scream
"Where is my wife?"
But we can't see
Any signs of life.
My heart races
Sweat on my brow
I squeeze my hose
Don't fail me now.
My partner close
No time for fear
The fire's fury
is drawing near.
I squeeze the trigger
The water blasts
The flame's still dancing
But fading fast.
I hear a cry
It's faint, unclear,
I know his wife
Is still in here.
The pressure's on
The tension climbs,
We have to hurry
There's not much time.
I can't find her
In this firey hell
Without a warning
I hear the bell...
My tank is low
air's almost out
But there's a woman
I can't leave without.
I pray to God
To save us all
And then I hear
The faintest call.
I find her and
She's still alive
I carry her
to the fresh outside.
His wife is safe
The battle's won,
A pat on the back,
A job well done.
