Stephen Franks' Quilt Stephen R. FranksBorn on the 17th of July 1951 Depart from this world on 12th July 2001
As you can see, I've come up with some ideas about the photo and embroidery blocks. First all of "our" kids including extended family and grandkids. I am print them directly on to fabric they have a paper backed fabric that is colorfast from june tailor. For the other blocks I already printed a wonderful picture of a cowboy hat done by a friend of mine, I am embroidering a native amerian prayer with a dream catcher, and I have printed a picture with unicorns mediterrean chicken recipe. I'm still trying to come up with ideas on the other blocks. Some picutres I have not decide on yet. Some pictures of living family and close friends are not posted to the site because I don't feel comfortable posting them without their okay, which is difficult since I don't have up-to-date addresses on some. As I get more ideas I'll post them and as I get pieces done I post those also.
Below is the lettering I will be using for cross stitching the words to "The Dance"![]()
I have scanned in squares of the material that I will be using. These are the squares.. Now I have sewn one quarter of a pinwheel and have constructed a virtual quilt block from that. I have actually completed the whole pinwheel but since my scanner is only 8 1/2 by 11....The Double wedding ring numbered piece is what I will be using for the hand quilting per 3 inch square, the sketch is what the entire twelve inch square will look like. Although I am still debating whether to use the double or a single ring. On the cross stitch, photos and embroidery I will be putting muslin in as a middle layer to quilt against and then have the photo, embridery or crossitch on top of that. The borders on those blocks will help connect it. I will have to decide if I want to introduce another color or use one or more of my existing ones, probably one or more of the existing colors. The material bought originally was 1.5 yards of light blue print, 1 yard medium blue solid, 15 yards dark blue solid (it is also used for the back), 1.5 yards muslin (would have been more but it comes in a wider bolt) and one square yard of cross-stitch (aida) for the center. but this will change because of the borders which I had not figured for and backing with muslin which I also had not thought of.
