The Teddy Bear

The white stuffed bear
That shares my bed
Listens to the thoughts
Running through my head

Doesn't mind
I squeeze him tight
Thoughts of you
And crying alone at night

Understands
Holding him close
While I wanting
You the most

Soft and warm
With him I sleep
After tearful hours
Of counting sheep

Cuddling close
I can almost see
You in spirit
Watching over me

You can not hold me
You've gone above
Gentle my sorrow
Surround me with love

The gift was you

The gifts you gave are priceless
You gave them from the heart
And they will never leave me
Though we are now apart

You gave the gift of you
With love you made me whole
With your laughter and your tears
You gave me back my soul

I cherish all the gifts you gave
Though you have gone away
I find that if I hold them close
You're with me in each day

Your love and soul are present
They hold me safe and strong
You walk beside me quietly
Although the path is long

For in the midst of pain and doubt
You trusted in our love
And I trust it will never end
Though you have gone above.

From the moment that we met
I've never been alone
I had a best friend by my side
However things have gone

When we touched each others souls
I found eternity
For I know even now you're gone
You always here with me

The miracle that made us meet
And then reach out to touch
Gave to me, to short a time
The man I love so much

But everyday, from this day forth
Even though you're gone
I know that with your love and soul

It hurt that you're gone
To know that without you
The world still goes on

That eight months tomorrow
You ended the fight
You hurt too much here
So you went toward the light

I miss you each day
You're held in my heart
No matter the distance
We're never apart

Each moment is cherished
Each day you were here
It strengthens my soul
When I hold you near

To reach out my heart
To the man beside me
You said that is where
That you always would be

I hold you

The angel of my morning
The grace that filled my day
The blessing that I counted
A gift in every way.

I found in you since we first met
An instant trusting friend
And what we had it grew so strong
That it will never end

We found a friend and, yes, a love
That grew each passing year
And it is what sustains me now
And helps me hold you near

For near to me you need to stay
So I can make it through
I'll face the world I need to face
And do what I must do

For though the path turned rocky
with the choices that you made
Our love it is a miracle
That time can never fade

Why don't I have
A broken heart

With faith of seeing

A distant shore

For souls that share

Can not be severed
By time or space

It does not break
Although this life
You did forsake

Because I know
That love lived on
And your light
Will guide me on

And help me do
The things I must
For in our love
I place my trust

Yes, I will miss you
Every day
Each hour since
You went away

But my heart
Remains in love
You fill it up
Now from above

And ease my soul
With peace and grace

Each day I awaken

Is a part of the man

Your sadness, your laughter
Your pain and your joy
Your memories of family
When you were a boy

The trust that was ours
The unfailing belief
Is what helps me now
In the depth of my grief

To know, though you're gone
You look down from above

With unending love

Early mist

In the early mist of morning
When I rise to greet the day
I find that you are with me
As I walk along life's way

As the sun peaks the horizon
And the morning is still new
Then my thoughts will often wander
To the heart and soul of you

When the rain it falls around me
Washing gently on my face
Wishing that they were your kisses
Held secure in your embrace

As the day it settles down
Thoughts of you my burdens lift
Memories and special moments
They are my forever gift

It the twilight of the evening
Sky starts glowing before dark
Knowing in each hour that passes
That your memory leaves its mark

Watch the stars come out at nighttime
Gently twinkling overhead
Wishing that you weren't among them
But here holding me instead.

Our love is locked in
There is never a doubt
Each path that I walk
I am never without

A hand reaches out
Our finger entwined
And so with our hearts
Yours wrapped around mine

Each moment through life
I hold our love fast
For it is the one thing
That always will last

For love lasts through time
And reaches past pain
Our hearts beat as one
Till I'm with you again

The angels in heaven
Sing from above
About you and me
And undying love

Quietly

Quietly the night does fall
Gently sweeping over all
In the stillness, do I see
Your soul watching over me

Certainly I feel your love
Like the star shine from above
Twinkling joy into my heart
Although we are far apart

Distance never was our foe
Pain and fear pushed you to go
Departing from this earthly place
But we are still in love's embrace

So as the day becomes the night
Guide me with you special light
Give my brow a spirit kiss
Send peaceful dreams of one I miss

Will I wake to find you with me
In the early morinng dawn
Or when mist of sleep have cleared
Will I know that you are gone

Will I lose myself tomorrow
In the netherland between
I can feel your presence with me
Though your body is unseen

With your silent strength surrounding
Strength I know you did not see
I will rise to meet the day
Let your love envelop me

I'm the heart that you believed in
Found in us unending love
Faith and trust it can move mountains
Guided now from up above

Don't know the answers

I wish I knew the answers
But I just do my best
I really want to lay down
My head upon your chest

To listen to you breathing
To hear your quiet sigh
Just knowing that I can't
Is enough to make me cry

To know that I won't again
Feel the comfort of your arms
Or watch and smile as you show
The world your warmth and charm

Each day I am without you
I learn more how to cope
How to find the thing you lacked
A tiny ray of hope

There are so many blessings
We're given every day
And I must remember them
Since you went away

I know that we will meet again
Upon a distant shore
And my heart then it will be
Missing you no more

Until then I'll do my best
To be the one you love
And feel your smiles and laughter rain
Down from up above

On the porch

On the porch in the rain I am standing
Water runs down my face, I feel your touch
Feel you stand close behind, gently hold me
And the tears start to fall, miss you much

And yet on the porch, I feel you with me
In each room of the house, I see your smile
And I know although your body's gone to ashes
You'll be staying here with me, a long long while

For each morning in the sleepy mist of waking
I hold you close though you have gone away
I think about our love and the joy it brought to me
And gather up my strength to face the day

And each moment I'm at work you surround me
And your touch is on everything I do
Each time I grow a little or stand for what is right
I know some of that steel comes from you

In the evening when I spend time with my son
Or reach out to help a friend whose feeling low
I can feel you in my heart, your love it holds me close
And deep within my soul, somehow I know

I know that you are still walking with me
Through the sun, through the rain, through the storm
The deep abiding love that we shared within our souls
Holds me close, every day, and keeps me warm

Grief denied
Hurts inside
Rips the soul
That once was whole

Hidden grief
Brings no relief
From pain so deep
It steals my sleep

Don't pretend
Reach for a friend
Throw out the mask
Begin the task

Shine a light
On grief's dark night
Find a way
honor yesterday

Strength is shared
From one who cared
Love fills your heart
You are never apart
