Even with his enormous Imperial space fleet in place, Palpatine felt that there was a certain lack of "respect" (and fear) for his rule among the worlds of the former Rebel public. Wanting to remedy the situation, he called upon the brightest of his spacecraft designers and demanded a vessel more magnificent and more powerful than any that had ever been in space before. His single demand was that the new battle fortress have the ability to destroy an entire planet with one quick, massive stroke, against which there could be no planetary defense.

The Imperial code name for the project became Death Star. A new, frighteningly powerful super laser system was created, one which required an energy supply so huge that it demanded, intensive, an artificial planetoid to house it. All Imperial estimates showed that a single blast from the Death Star cannon would equal the combined fire power of the entire Imperial fleet.

The brainchild of Grand Moff Tarkin, the Death Star was developed in secret. Rebel Alliance spies were nonetheless able to learn of the weapon's existence, and stole vital technical schematics from guarded Imperial vaults. These desperate spies transmitted this data to Rebel leader Princess Leia Organa, who stored the plans in R2-D2's memory systems. In a brutal display of the Death Star's power, Grand Moff Tarkin targeted its prime weapon at the peaceful world of Alderaan. Leia Organa, an Imperial captive at the time, was forced to watch as the searing laser blast split apart her beloved world, turning the planet and its populace into orbital ash and debris. Using the stolen technical data, Alliance tacticians were able to pinpoint a crucial flaw in the Death Star's design. A small ray-shielded thermal exhaust port led directly from the surface of the station into the heart of its colossal reactor. If the port could be breached by proton torpedoes, then the resulting chain reaction would destroy the station.

At the true equator of the station was a deep trench, encircling the Death Star like as straight, endless canyon some 376 kilometers in length. Here were housed the station's primary hanger bays, drive thrusters, heat exhausts, primary sensor arrays and tractor beam systems. Lining this trench were thousands of turbolasers turrets for defense against starfighter attack.

At 120 kilometers in diameter, the Death Star was the single largest object ever built. Its officers and crew served within a self-sustaining world, complete with leisure resources and private living communities. Parks, shopping centers and entertainment establishments were provided for those aboard the station, for their terms of service were generally to average six years with no outside shore leave. The operation of the Death Star required a full crew of 774,576, overseen by a staff of 27,048 officers. In addition to this, 378,685 support and maintenance personnel were necessary. Security aboard the station was maintained by a force of more than 25,000 stormtroopers.

In addition to the humanoid crew of the station, the Death Star had a support "crew" of more than 400,000 droids. These robotic servants range from sophisticated R2 units to "mouse" droids and fill a variety of roles, including: protocol, medical assistance, domestic service, local transportation and sanitation.

The station's surface was covered with hundreds of thousands of "city sprawls," manned station dedicated primarily to defense. Here were found the majority of the Death Star's shield projectors and communications arrays. While the interior decks of the station were designed and built with artificial gravity dedicated to the poles, The personnel of the outer surface sprawls were provided gravity of a planetary nature.

DEATH STAR II

  • Manufacturer: Devel Lemelisk, Engineer of the First Death Star

  • Speed: 5MGLT
  • Crew: Unknown
  • Weapons: 30,000 Turbolasers, 7500 heavy turbolasers, 5500 laser cannons, 500 Ion cannons
  • Shields/Armor: Titanium reinforced hull
  • Special Features: Construction site was at Planetary orbit, Moon of Endor

Within three years of the Death Star's demise, the Galactic Empire again proved its evil nature with the construction of a second Death Star in a remote region of space. Fortunately for the galaxy, the Empire never completed this monstrosity. Word of its construction was spread through the Rebel ranks by Bothan spies. The Alliance was able to pinpoint the exact location of Death Star's construction, and mount a pre-emptive strike to destroy the station. The leaked information was all a ruse. The scheming Emperor Palpatine engineered the Rebellion's discovery of the Death Star in the hopes of trapping the growing Rebel fleet. The second Death Star would not be as vulnerable as the Rebels believed. To ensure that the Death Star would destroy the lured Alliance fleet, Palpatine entrusted the supervision of its final phase of construction to his Sith apprentice, Lord Darth Vader. Vader motivated the Death Star's commander, Moff Jerjerrod, to see that the battle station was operational when the Emperor arrived for his inspection tour.

The second Death Star was not a complete sphere. Though much of the battle station's recognizable shape was visible, there were huge sections of exposed superstructure and visible skeleton. To protect the half-completed and immobile station during its construction, the Empire projected an immense deflector shield from the nearby forest moon of Endor. The shield was strong enough to protect any breach from both capital and starfighter-class ships. The Alliance sent a commando team to land on the moon and deactivate the shield generator while the Rebel fleet emerged from hyperspace to destroy the station. Unlike the previous Death Star, whose reactor core was accessible only from a two-meter wide exhaust port, the second Death Star's heart had to be destroyed by actually flying into the superstructure and detonating the collosal power plant. The commando team was waylaid by Imperials and the Rebel fleet arrived to find the deflector shield intact. Worse yet, the superlaser was operational, and began destroying Rebel Mon Calamari cruisers with each blast. General Lando Calrissian came up with a daring and foolhardy tactic to engage the Imperial fleet at point-blank range, thus limiting the Death Star's available targets. Aided by the native Ewoks of Endor, the Rebels were able to infiltrate and destroy the shield generator complex. With the shield down, General Calrissian led the Alliance starfighters into the inner recesses of the Death Star. There, he and Wedge Antilles loosed a volley of ordnance that began an immense fireball that tore apart the station. Emperor Palpatine's body was consumed in the explosion. The Imperial fleet never recovered from the fiasco. What was to be the Rebel Alliance's demise instead turned into the death of the Empire. As firey fragments of the battle station burned away in Endor's atmosphere, the celebratory cheers of freedom rang throughout the forests, and indeed, the entire galaxy.

The second Death Star's size ballooned to 160 kilometers in diameter, larger than the original, and featured a superlaser of greater power. Not only could this prime weapon deliver a more devastating blast, but it could fire more often and with greater accuracy. The second Death Star, if completed, would have featured over 30,000 turbolaser batteries, 7,500 laser cannons, 5,000 ion cannons and 768 tractor beams.

Before the Clone Wars shook the galaxy, the Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser was the largest warship to patrol the space lines. It was the backbone of the Old Republic fleet, the warship that kept the galaxy safe and the space lanes open. By the time the Star Destroyer was introduced, the Dreadnaught was relegated to a smaller, less prestigious role in the Imperial Navy.

The Dreadnaught suffered from significant problems, even when new. It was slow, hampered by inefficient power generators, which also resulted in weak shield projection, low fire power, and computer systems subject to frequent surges. Add to this that the vessel needed a massive crew complement to keep it running, and it is easy to see why it wasn't long before the Old Republic military was looking for a replacement.

The Dreadnaughts used by the OT military factions have been massively upgraded, with new power and weapons systems. Korribun Ship Technologies has taken advantage of all the recent advances in power system, computer, shield , and weapons technologies to upgrade the Dreadnaught.

Also known throughout the galaxy as the Emperor's capital ships, Imperial Star Destroyers provide the main military might of the Empire. Built by command of Palpatine at a rate that forced all normal safety precautions to be discarded, these vessels served to establish the primary foothold of the Emperor's rule.

These colossal, wedge-shaped behemoths, bristling with turbo weapons and carrying entire TIE squadrons within them, each possess more firepower then the entire planetary force of most worlds, and can reduce a planet surface to smoking debris in a matter of hours. An Imperial Star Destroyer, typically 1.6 kilometers in length, is equipped with 60 turbolasers emplacements and 60 ion cannon batteries. Each turbolaser is a supercharged beam weapon that uses a small laser to excite its main component system to fire. A turbolaser's beam is hotter and more intense then that of an ordinary blaster cannon, and it's discharge muzzle reaches such high temperatures that three separate cryogenic cooling systems are necessary to keep the weapons within safe thermal limits. The vessel's ion cannons, similar to those most often found as a part af planetary defensive systems, give the Star Destroyer the ability to neutralise the energy systems of other vessels as an aid to capture and boarding.

A Star Destroyer also carries three TIE fighter squadrons for perimeter defence and reconnaissance, two TIE interceptor squadrons, one TIE bomber squadron, eight Imperial shuttles, a full stormtrooper division and 15 stormtrooper transports, building materials, landing barges, scouts, field artillery weapons, both AT-AT and AT-ST walker groups (for ground assault missions), special ablative heat shield for orbital drops, assault gunboats, repair vessels, deep-space probes and probe droids, 10 tractor beam projectors, defensive shields, and sophisticated sensor and communications arrays.

The vessel's upper command tower with its characteristic twin shield generators serves as the brain of the ship. The main bridge, located in then center of the tower's forward face, features large viewports which provide a spectacular view of space beyond and of the massive forward hull. As they do in many Imperial vessels, flight data officers, tracking systems specialists and combat supervisors work in sunken data pits that line the room's floor.

The ventral side of the Imperial Star Destroyer features two launch bays, both along the vessel's centerline. The largest of these is of sufficient size to allow the docking/capture of any vessel at or below the dimensions of a Corellian Corvette (or Blockade Runner, as it is sometimes called). From this same bay, the ship's TIE squadrons and probes are launched as well, dropping from holding racks along the wide, vertical shaft that reaches well into the main body of the ship.

A smaller launch bay, just forward of the main one, serves as a drop chute for any ground assault equipment the vessel chooses to deploy. Three AT-AT walkers can be dropped per minute, carried in landing barges and unloaded. Such large ground equipment is later retrieved using standard mega-lift cargo modules and specially-outfitted shuttle barges. Alternately, when time is not a factor, walkers can be both delivered to and removed from a combat zone by shuttle barge carrier.

The ship's huge hyperspace field generator is located within a domed area along the vessel's ventral ridge. It is the largest such generator ever constructed, and it expends more raw energy in a single hyperspace jump than many planetary nations use during their entire life time. Containing what is in essence a miniature sun, the heavily-shielded, carbonite and durasteel-reinforced heart of the ship's SFS 1a2b solar ionisation reactor was the one element that dictated the enormous size of the Imperial Star Destroyer. It feeds not only the hyperdrive motivation system., but the vessel's propulsion, powerfeed and weapons networks as well, providing more than enough focused power for any task facing a Star Destroyer.

The standard Star Destroyer carries a complement of 37,085 (4,520 officers, 32,565 enlisted). Much of it's interior space is necessarily dedicated to providing quarters for this enormous crew, and other areas (unlike most Imperial ships) feature recreation facilities for off-duty personnel. In addition, quarters are provided for the vessel's always-ready planetary assault troops and for any Imperial VIPs or planetary government officials who the Emperor feels should spend time as "guests" aboard one of his massive and intimidating Imperial Star Destroyers.

There are no raw materials recycling facilities aboard Imperial Star Destroyers, as there are within Dreadnaughts and Super Star Destroyers. As a result, most commanders simply eject repair debris and waste materials into space, usually before engaging the vessel's hyperdrive systems.

A Sector Group of 24 Imperial Star Destroyers is assigned for the patrolling of each sector of space. With the added reach of TIE squadron patrols, a single vessel can easily hold a star system within its grip, forcing it's inhabited worlds to comply with any Imperial edict that is handled down. The placement of stormtrooper patrols on planetary surfaces is seldom necessary, but it is an option left to each Star Destroyer commander.

INTERDICTOR CRUISER

  • Manufacturer: Sienar Fleet Systems Immobilizer 418
  • Length: 600 meter
  • Speed: 40MGLT
  • Crew: 17.185, Two TIE fighters, one TIE Interceptor and one TIE Bomber squadron
  • Weapons: 30 Heavy turbolasers, 20 Ion cannons (computer assisted targeting), 10 tractor beams
  • Shields/Armor: Titanium reinforced hull
  • Special Features: 4 artificial gravity-well projectors

The Interdictor cruiser is a starship that serves a very special purpose in the Imperial Navy's fleet. The six hundred meter long star cruiser is built on a standard heavy-cruiser hull, but it carries an artificial gravity-well generator and four gravity-well projectors, which act together to simulate the tremendous effect of a stellar body in hyperspace.

When activated, the artificial gravity wells prevent nearby starship from escaping into hyperspace. Any ship already in hyperspace that crosses such a gravity well immediately drops to real space. Cutting off the escape to hyperspace.

Interdictor cruisers figured prominently in Grand Admiral Trans's tactics. He used them to cut off the escape routes of Rebel starships and nearly captured Luke Skywalker by using an Interdictor to force Luke's X-wing from Hyperspace. Luke escaped both the Interdictor and the Star Destroyer Chimaea by using a desperation move when he reversed his ship's acceleration compensators while simultaneously firing a pair of proton torpedo's to throw off the Chimaera's tractor beam.

MC80 CALAMARI CRUISER

  • Manufacturer: MC-80 Mon Calamari Capital Starship
  • Length: 1900 meter
  • Speed: 35MGLT
  • Crew: 6,000 (1000 officers, 5000 enlisted)
  • Weapons: 68 Taim & Bak XV9 turbolasers, 40 ArMek SW-7 ion batteries
  • Shields/Armor: Titanium reinforced hull
  • Special Features: One X-Wing, Two Y-Wing, One A-Wing starfighter squadrons

It was not until the entry of the Mon Calamari into the Rebellion that the Rebel forces gained capital starships with which to combat the Star Destroyers of the Empire. The huge battle cruisers of the Mon Calamari are modified versions of the deep-space exploration vessels their builders have for decades used to increase their understanding to the universe around them.

Admiral Ackbar of the Mon Calamari, seeing the valiant struggle taking place between the Rebels and the evil Empire that had laid claim to the worlds of Old Republic, convinced his people that the best use of their great technologies would be to help in this great fight for freedom. Several of the immense cruisers were immediately slated for modification, and fortification of their shielding and weapons systems began. Each Mon Calamari Cruiser is Unique, with artistically-designed hull contours. Many on Mon Calamari mourned the addition of sensor equipment and weapons emplacements along the normally smooth hulls of the ships they were donating to the noble cause of the Rebellion. many of these great vessels, once modified, were given to the Rebel Forces to do with as they saw fit.

Rebel crews from across space staff Mon Calamari cruisers, but the actual flight control duties fall exclusively to Mon Calamari crew members. This is primarily because of the fact that the Mon Calamari optic arrangement differs greatly from that of humanoid species, and the holo-navigational, battle graphic displays and optical targeting systems of the cruisers are designed for use by Mon Calamari operators. Also, many of the cruiser's flight control system are keyed through the highly- specialised, swivelling operators' seats and are controlled by subtle movements of arms, legs and feet, leaving hands free for other tasks. Humanoid operators find these controls motions difficult if not impossible to duplicate. This has proven a blessing for the Rebellion, for the Mon Calamari have a great, innate talent for starship piloting and are able to get amazing speed and maneuverability out of vessels that would normally be considered cumbersome in battle situations.

This Mon Calamari cruiser is the flag ship of the Rebel Alliance, it is Admiral Ackbar's flagship, Home One. It has one large hanger bays, comprised of 26 fighters, pilots, support personnel and maintenance equipment. These fighters can be launched at a moment's notice, thanks to the cruiser's enhanced deep-space early-detection sensor system and the fact that all fighters are kept flight ready at all times. Pilot's quarters are housed adjacent to the hangers. Aldo the hanger bay is smaller than the MC-80a Calamari Cruiser, the ship is much large in size.

The shielding system of the Mon Calamari cruiser is approximately equal to that of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer. While the Mon Calamari ship has fewer weapons batteries than its Imperial counterpart, the great skill with which the Mon Calamari control their fire nearly brings the fire power of the ships into parity.

Any Military effort, sadly, involves injury and death for those engaged in combat. For this reason, The Rebel Alliance, unlike the Empire, has put a high priority on the availability of medical attention at the site of conflict. By converting a Nebula-B escort frigate from it's standard hanger/starfighter launch bay configuration, the Rebel forces have made it possible to save lives and many of the brave pilots and crew members whose lives are dedicated to the struggle against the Empire.

This hospital ship travels with the fleet, often directly into combat situations. Its cluster of intensive care units, recovery wards and operating theaters can treat over 700 patients simultaneously, with a recovery rate higher than many planet-side hospitals. The Rebel medics aboard are highly-trained in the field treatment of blaster wounds, chemical poisoning, fractures and vacuum exposure, and can stabilise any more serious wounds until the patient can be treated by a more fully-trained doctor or medical droid.

The First of four Super-class Star Destroyers in service before the Battle of Hot, the Executor was Darth Vader's command ship while he hunted down the main Rebel Alliance base. It is the longest traditional starship constructed by the Imperial Navy.

Being assigned to the Executor was regarded by Navy offers as the fast track to promotion. In a military sense, the Super Star Destroyer was some what impractical, since a smaller ship could fulfill its mission much faster then the Super Star Destroyer, The Super Star Destroyer represented the Emperor's unlimited power and resources. The Imperial Star Destroyer frighten worlds into submission. The Super Star Destroyer terrorized them beyond the capability of resistance.

TECHNO UNION TRANSPORT

  • Manufacturer: Techno Union

This transport is of great value for the Techno Union. It can transport delegates to distant worlds to do business. But it can also carry a large group of engineers to a world to setup a factories or plants. But is it most of the time use to transport goods to make factories or plant. It has a large cargo hold that can fit a complete factory. This craft is not designed to do battle. It has a known weak spot. At the top of the middle of the craft the fuel cells are connected to the ship. When the ship is hit at this point the fuel cells detatch from the ship and leaf the ship stranded on the ground.

During the start of the clone wars at Geonosis, 286 units where deployed, 169 escaped the planet.
