NO WAR ON IRAQ!

                                    EL PARTIDO SOCIALISTA DEL VALLE
                                                   WHERE WE STAND:

The repression of democratic freedoms and civil liberties will be limited only by the population's will to resist.  For partisans of social justice, now must not be the time to hide, but to stand up for democracy and the values of our struggle—a struggle for a world organized to truly value all human life, rather than profit.

We call upon all people to resist media and government-manipulated hysteria calculated to give the political and military establishment of the United States that free hand for a new round of massive violence.

There is no justification for war. Iraq has not attacked or threatened the United States. It has not been implicated in the attacks of Sept. 11

To repeat the most important point: The enormous crimes committed by the United States government cannot be redressed by violent assaults on the ordinary people of the U.S.  Nor will any justice be achieved by U.S. military retaliation that victimizes the population in the countries of whatever governments may ultimately be deemed responsible for the September 11 crime.

A military campaign against Iraq could kill thousands of innocent victims.

The military overthrow of Saddam Hussein would require U.S. forces to occupy Iraq in hostile circumstances for a long time.

War against Iraq would violate the U.N. Charter and the principles of international law and lead to the further weakening of the United Nations.

We reject any unilateral intervention by the US in the affairs of other countries.

We call on all citizens of the world to fight the US military-industrial complex, as mandated by the Nuremburg principles, by conscience, and by a vision of a just and peaceful world.

We call for the allocation of most tax generated national revenue to essential social services such as health care, education, housing, and mass transit.

          OUR PRINCIPLES ARE CLEAR:

            International Solidarity & Peace

People around the world have more in common with each other than with their rulers. We condemn war, preparation for war, and the militaristic culture because they play havoc with people's lives and divert resources from constructive social projects. Militarism also concentrates even greater power in the hands of the few, the powerful and the violent. We align with no nation, but only with working people throughout the world.
