Beginning the Journey as a Survivor

"and the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"
~anais nin~

The journey you are on, can be filled with many twists and turns as I have discovered for myself. Be patient and be gentle with yourself on this journey....

As a Survivor, there may be times when you feel that you cannot cope with life, the following is a list of ideas for helping you to cope.

THINGS TO DO TO COPE

These are suggestions, do what YOU need to do to cope, and to stay safe.......*adapted from "The Courage to Heal: A Guide for Women Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse © " by Ellen Bass and Laurie Davis....

"The emergency state is a critical time for healing...You are forced to reach out for help. The emergency stage is frightening and overpowering, but it does not last forever....When you're in the "emergency stage", you're running on empty, and until you accept it, you will continue to fight yourself..."
"To make it through the emergency stage, you need more than a little encouragement. You need a LOT of encouragement. You need to find people who can inspire you and give you hope."
adapted from ""CTH"© by Ellen Bass and Laurie Davis....
