There would be no Clan Copp Chronicles without the great sites below. It may take a village to raise a child, but I've learned it takes the whole World Wide Web, it seems, to make a website! Please visit these fine folks, all of whom have contributed at some time: |
Favorite Links
Aon Cari is a great site with free Celtic clipart as well as counted cross stitch and beading patterns.
An interesting site full of pictures and info about, you guessed it, Irish history
At the Daltai site you can learn some basic Irish Gaelic (click on the words to hear them pronounced) and learn about opportunities to study the language.
If, after U2 and Thin Lizzie, you still don't think the Irish can rock, check out this band of mad Irishmen living in New York City!
I owed much of the original look of these pages to Howard Oliver, the British artist behind these sites.. Absolutely gorgeous clipart and check out his paintings, clocks, and 3D work in the galleries on FreeLance.
Great source for free animations and other webart
Rubber chicken, anyone? McPhee's is a site for all us overgrown kids. And the store's in Seattle!
The site of the Irish Tourism Board, or the Bord Failte.... Travel arrangements, accomodations, virtual tours -- they have it here.
Irish Internet Hub
A fine site that lists links to Irish-ralated content on the Web. A great place to start if you're interested in Irish politics especially.
Radio Telefis Eireann is Eire's national broadcasting service. Hear streaming audio of Irish programming and catch up on Irish news.
This site contains Midis of many traditional Celtic tunes
This site belongs to a friend of mine. If you're curious about the great ocean liners that have all but disappeared, check out his site.
Ceolas is an organization supporting and encouraging Celtic music. This is an excellent place to start if you're interested in Celtic music, as a performer or a fan.
This attractive site is being revamped; hopefully it will be at least as colorful, entertaining, and informative as before.
Celtic Midi Files
Stan the Man! When this Canadian folksinger died in a plane fire at 33, the world lost something fine and rare. But you can "discover" Stan at this website which explores his life and music. If you only click one link here, this should be it!
The CWB is a non-profit group that celebrates -- what else! -- wooden boats. They rescue old boats, give workshops on boatbuilding, give free rides in their small fleet on nice Sunday afternoons, and hold the annual Wooden Boat festival.
Expect no mercy from the scurvy knaves at NQG! This site will tell you, or link you to, everything you ever wanted to know about pirates. Arrrrr!
MIDI File Archive
Addagirl showed me how to add the QuickTime players to the site. She has links to helpful sites and a good collection of MIDIs, too
Thousands of classical music files, including some of the most beautiful MIDIs -- as well as MP3s -- you'll ever hear
Cecil has a HUGE page of Irish and Celtic MIDIs.
Bagpipes at Best! Bagpipe MIDI files sequenced by father-and-son pipers
A great online GIF editor I use all the time
With Geocities' Pagebuilder, all you need to know to make your own webpages is how to save files and point-and-click. They'll host your site for free, too! If you've wanted to build a site but don't know HTML, Geocities is your new home.
The header for the old 'Cruising" page was created here. Fun just to play with, but a cool tool, too!
A site for RPG gamers, Flat Earth has a wonderful collection of medieval and Celtic fonts.
If this absolutely phenomenal site can't teach you to write at least basic code, hang thy head in shame! :D Dr. Burns and his cronies make it seem so easy. The tutorials are great. The newsletter is great! Have I raved enough? Visit them! Today! Really!
Taylor's Tune Book |
Barry Taylor's excellent MIDIs of traditional tunes to enjoy or download.
I found the JS for the Irish Jukebox that was on our home page on this site; Wayne -- aka Gringoloco -- seems like a pretty cool dude! And he plays harmonica, too! :D

The Celtic Doodler is a neat little Java Applet that lets you "draw" Celtic knotwork right there on your monitor. A fun bit of a timewaster!
The Southwest and Native American graphics on these pages came from these sites:
This beautiful ship is the brig Lady Washington, a replica of her namesake who was built in 1750 and in 1787 left Boston, rounded the Horn, and made her way to the Pacific Northwest as a trade ship. The current Lady Dub was built in the 1980's and is the largest fully square-rigged sailing vessel operating on the west coast. She's also a movie star! With a new, temporary paint job and other refinements, the Lady Dub sailed 9600 miles (round trip) to the Caribbean to "star" in the Disney movie Pirates of the Carribean as the Interceptor. When we first saw the movie, we immediately recognized her, despite her "movie makeup." "Lady Love," the Dub's website, is full of information about this grand ship and other tall ships.
