| Raingutter Regatta Specifications and Rules Rules 1. The course is made of two standard rain gutters, 10 feet long, set in grooves on two saw horses. 2. The Scouts will place their boat into the gutter at the start of the race but will not be allowed to touch the boat until after the race is finished. Only the appointed judges and race officials will be allowed to touch the boat once the race has begun. Scouts that touch their boat after the start of the race will be disqualified, at the discretion of the Pack Committee. 3. Boats will be propelled by blowing into the sail. Straws will be allowed. 4. The boats will be started with the stern touching the end of the rain gutter. 5. At the given signal the Scouts start to blow. The first boat to cross the finish line is the winner of the heat. 6. The race will be single elimination. 7. All competitors will receive a participation patch. 8. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded to each Den. Specifications 1. Hull: No longer than 7” nor shorter than 6 ½”. 2. Mast: 6 ½” from deck to top. 3. Keel and Rudder: As supplied in kit. 4. Sail: No larger than material supplied. |
