My Working life has been spent as an illustrator and wood carver spanning some 50 years. I started my working life as an Aircraft apprentice in 1956.
I discovered Technical Illustrating whilst working as an apprentice and decided it was the job for me.
It was while visiting an Art Exhibition in Southampton in about 1961 that I saw a carving created in soft wood.
The subject was an abstract swan finished to a high polish with a knot in the wood used to great advantage in the design. Although not realistic the artist had caught the spirit of the subject and I was inspired to produce my first wood carving in 1962.
