2012 Club TT's - The proposed calendar of Club time trial events for 2012 is available to view and suggest alterations. The only change I've done from last year is to drop the two Lower Shuckburgh / Southam events and replace them with the K10/10F. Our events need to be sent to the Midland DC by the end of November so don't take too long to think about it. See the proposed events. |

| * Hill Climb - Congratulations to Jeremy Hicks for measuring his effort to perfection finishing with a whole second advantage over defending champion, Gary Hipwell.
In third came Rich Bray who must have been putting down some serious power to shift his not inconsiderable bulk up the slopes of Newnham.
Top time of the day came from Mark Jackson who just did it for the sheer hell of it. See the results Thanks to all who turned out, riders, spectators and especially Mark and Rita for starting everyone off and Frank for recording their efforts at the summit. | ![]() |

Club TT - After sharing the honours last week Rich Bray found a little extra for the last 10 of the season and pulled out 13-seconds over Phil Clark on the Frankton course. See the results. Looks like I was a little hasty in raising Matt Clinton to the giddy heights of the allcomers course records as Scott Rose was 5-seconds quicker back in 2006. Thanks to Lee Edmonds for spotting the error and putting me straight. A big thanks to Jeff Stone for holding the watch and Graham Locke for pushing off, their efforts throughout the season are greatly appreciated. |

Midland TT Champs - Wind and rain welcomed over 100 riders to 10-mile K33/10D course, just South of Alcester, on the morning of Sunday, 17 July, for the Midland TT Champs. Medals were up for grabs in various age groups and congratulations are due to the Velo's Phil Clarke who took gold in his relevant age group. See the results. Added to that the event raised over £400 for Cyclists Fighting Cancer. |

* Inter-Club TT - A rather damp evening and an equally dismal result.
One positve was the sum of £106 raised for the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, a charity that was very dear to Ken Rushall.
Thanks to the Rugby RCC for hosting the event and The Bikeyard of Leamington for the generous prizes.

A Tribute To Ken Rushall - Vince Jenkins has been good enough to write a small tribute to Ken Rushall which is well worth a read. Ken was and avid supporter of the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and would have appreciated any donations you would like to make to them. |

Towcester Hilly - Not renowned for its idyllic spring weather is the Towcester hilly but last Saturday (19/03/11) saw the Rugby Velo team of Lee Edmonds (41-12), Gary Hipwell (41-45) and Colin Stiles (43-30) make hay while the Sun shone. The trio picked up the award for the fastest team over the 15.4-mile circuit. Judging by the photo of the team after the event Lee looks to have undergone some surgery over the winter by having his ears pinned back which no doubt contributed to his thrashing of the wing-nutted Gary. |

* Hill Climb - The seasons trials for the Velo's were brought to a close with the annual attempt to escape the Earth's gravitational pull on the launch pad that is Newnham Hill. Gary Hipwell was the fastest up the hill though his terminal velocity was woefully short of the 25,000MPH required to escape mother Earth. Lee Edmonds finished 2nd with a valiant effort whilst the defending champion, Jeremy Hicks, succumbed to a mysterious mechanical problem which put paid to his hopes. See the results. Though Gary promised never to dabble in Voodoo again after the nobbling of riders in his successful attempt to win the 25-mile championship one wonders if the pentangle and goats head found in his back garden had anything to do with Jeremy's mishap. Thanks to Simon Cook for starting the riders off and Frank Thompson for clocking them off at the finish.
