The Dream (1964) Music: Mendelssohn Choreography: Ashton Roughly following the plot of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, it centres around and argument between Titania and Oberon over a mysterious Indian boy and the loves of Helena. Elite Syncopations (1974) Music: S. Joplin and others Choreography: MacMillan Ragtime ballet set in a dance hall. The Firebird (1910) Music: Stravinsky Choreography: Fokine Based on various Russian fairy tales, it tells of Prince Ivan who captures the Firebird. Giselle (1841) Music: Adam Choreography: Coralli and Perrot Follows the romance between Giselle, a peasant girl, and Albrecht, a count. Medea (1950) Music: Bartók Choreography: Cullberg Ballet of love and revenge, based on an Ancient Greek legend. The Nutcracker (1892) Music: Tchaikovsky Choreography: Ivanov Clara is given a nutcracker for Christmas. At night, all her gifts come to life. Swan Lake (1895) Music: Tchaikovsky Choreography: Petipa/Ivanvo Tells the story of Princess Odette, who is turned into a swan. A Month in the Country ( 1976) Music: Chopin Choreography: Ashton Based on a play by Turgenev about the love-triangle between Natalia Petrovna, her ward Vera, and a tutor Beliaev. Les Noces (1923) Music: Stravinsky Choreography: Nijinska Based on a Russian wedding ritual. Petrushka (1911) Music: Stravinsky Choreography: Fokine The owner of a puppet theatre has three puppets, Petrushkam, the Ballerina and the Moor who come to life.
