| Heritage and Cultural Tourism: * Visitors may visit all types and locations or museums, characterized by their interest and motivation which draws them to communities or place. (Martinson, 57) * Historic travelers include a visit to a historic museum or site in their travel. Cultural travelers include a cultural event or festival in their travels. The phenomenon to visit museums and historical sites is termed heritage tourism, which is defined as individuals traveling "to experience the places and activities that authentically represent the stories and people of the past." (Ibid., 58) * Heritage tourism has been one of the most rapidly growing segments of tourism. It is represented by an upscale, desirable market of visitors who "are more sensitive to the need to support local history sites(s)." (Ibid., 59). |
