This is an old edvertisement for the improved Edison Amberola 50.

This was an advertisement issued by the Duplex Phonograph Company. They claimed that with horn attached to only a single side of the diaphragm of the reproducer, you would lose half the sound through the open side. Of course the extra horn added weight to the record which made it wear out slightly faster. This idea never caught on.
