THE CUNNINGHAM MOTTO

According to tradition a subject known as Malcolm, son of Friskin, helped the escaping Prince Malcolm (a mere lad of nine and named heir primogeniture to the throne by his father the late King Duncan 1) by forking hay over him with a shakefork to hide him from his pursuers, Macbeth and his soldiers, who wished to kill him and claim the throne for himself. This deed is said to be the origin of our motto "OVER FORK OVER."
