Bangel Tigers

Most Bengal tigers are between 7 to 9 feet long including the tail and 3 feet high. They weigh between 350 to 550 pounds. Bengal tigers live in India with some smaller populations in Bangladesh, and Nepal.

Like all tigers, Bengal tigers eat meat. They too stalk their prey and grab them by the throat. Bangles eat everything from young pigs to baby elephants. Some have even been known to kill reptiles and eat them too. But no matter what they eat their favorite thing is deer. Just one tiger can catch over 50 deer a year.

The Bengal tiger is pretty much the only tiger that will sometimes travel in packs of 3 to 4. Bengal tigers usually give birth every 2 or 3 years. They carry their young 3 1/2 months and when born are 3 pounds each. They can have as many as 6 kittens but usually only 3-4. Sadly only 2 will most likely live. Bengal cubs rely on their mothers fully for 6 months. Then at 2 years of age they go out on their own. A healthy Bangel tiger will live up to 26 years.

The Bangel tiger is also listed on the endangered list by USFWS. They are hunted for sport and used in traditional medicines in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Pakistan.
