Mike Gordon
Mike Gordon, bass guitar, head-banger, silent fury

Mike Gordon

This page is dedicated to Mike Gordon, the bassist of Phish. His scruffy hair, his chill sense of...well chilling, and his overall point of view on the world has made Mike a noble musician in this popular band. As with all the other players, Mike is well needed member, who carries the melody of each tune with his punched-out tabs, and his humourous actions on stage. He is the glue that holds this band together. He is my favorite band member. Not to "dis" all the other, because they are all favorites to me, it's just that Mike is soo... undefined, for the better part of the word. He makes me laugh, and wonder what he is really trying to do on stage.

Mike Gordon, or the "Cactus," as he was known back in the day, joined the band earlier on in Phish's debut. He has been known for his business sense, and his determination upon his interests. While at UVM, Mike took up the poster that Trey had hung up looking for a bassist.

Mike Gordon was born on June 3, 1965 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was born to mother Majorie Minkin and father Bob Gordon, and he grew up in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Majorie is one the artists for the several stage backdrops for Phish. Bob was the founder for the Store 24 Convenience stores that have circulated around.

Mike went to the Soloman Schetecter Jewish Day School in Sudbury until he graduated in 1983. After H.S., Mike went to UVM and worked to major in electrical engineering until 1985, where he switched to major in film and communications. Mike, unlike Trey and Jon, did not transfer to Goddard, but was still a valued member of the band. Mike graduated from UVM in 1987.
