Are you tired of always being the G.M., or have your Games just lost the excitement they once had? In our group no one wanted to be the Game Master, and everyone wanted to play. To solve this problem, a friend and I came up with the following game.
Round-Robin Rifts!
That's right. Remembering the old camp fire game of telling a piece of a story and then passing it on to the next person to tell the next leg and so on. We have been playing this way off and on for almost a year now and have found that it works great. A time limit is usually decided ahead of time (we use the length of the CD chosen as back ground music, not including battle).
Having some N.P.C.'s rolled up ahead of time helps out. While this hasn't been tried with high level characters, it works great for low and mid. You'll be surprised how much fun it is, and it is also a good way for new people to try their luck at being the Game Master, without having to plan out an entire campaign.
