Doom Buggy

RIGV-01 & 02 & 02V

Originally called the "Sand Skipper", it soon picked up the nick name "Doom Buggy" due to its overwhelming fire power, and is becoming increasingly popular in the New West, Lone Star/Pecos, and Mexico. The Buggy is well suited for travel over sand, and other ruff terrain. The windshield is an advanced H.U.D., like that of the Alice Power Armor. The Doom Buggy is equipped with a 3D geographical mapping computer that is able of displaying the terrain up to 10 miles away. The computer also automatically adjusts the tire pressure for travel over sand. This is especially helpful when traveling through the desert, allowing the driver to avoid any obstacles or dangerous slopes. A few have made it to the Great Lakes Region where Northern Gun officials have captured and studied them. They feel that it is a rip off of their "Rolling Thunder" APV and are asking Roseta to stop producing the vehicle. Roseta is angered be the allegations and will continue to produce the Doom Buggy's. Privately they laugh because the Doom Buggy uses technology pirated from Triax and Naruni. Northern Gun has tried to reproduce the crystalline technology used in the windshield but has failed, they simply don't have the proper equipment or raw materials to reproduce it. Also, force field technology is still about a decade out of their reach. Being the opportunists that they are, they have reproduced a knockoff of the RIGV-01 that they are calling the "Dume Buggy"(see note below).

Crew: RIGV-01 seats 6 (2 bucket seats in front and a bench that seats 3 in the back plus 1 in the turret.) RIGV-02 & 02V seats 3 (2 bucket seats in front, plus 1 in the turret.) The rear seating was removed to ad the side mounted lasers and to increase the storage capacity of the mini-missiles/water.
M.D.C. by Location
Main Body - 200
Force Field - 120 (regenerates 2 M.D.C. per minute.)
*Wheels(4) - 20 each
*Side Mounted Lasers(2) - 15 each (02 & 02V only)
*Mini-Missile Launchers(2) - 15 each (01 & 02 only)
Turret - 80
* Note: The force field bust be depleted before any called shots can be made. Those indicated with a * are also -2 to strike.

Speed: Over flat ground like that of roads and prairies, the Doom Buggy can reach speeds of 100 mph (160 kph). Over sand the maximum safe speed is 70 mph (112.5 kph). The driver can attempt speeds greater than that but should role on their piloting skill for every turn (change in direction, not every round)or any time the terrain changes(i.e., hills, slopes, etc.) For every 10 miles an hour over 70, ad a -5% penalty.

Statistical Data:
Height: 10 feet (3 meters) from the ground to the top of the turret
Width: 7 feet (2.13 meters)
Length: 18 feet (5.5 meters)
Power System: Nuclear with an average life of 10 years.
Special Features: Radar with a 10 mile range, combat computer that can track up to 24 targets (displayed on windshield and turret window), night vision (displayed on windshield and turret window)long range radio. The front bumper also comes standard with a winch and high powered headlights (usually with crosses painted over the lenses)
Market Cost: RIGV-01 sells for 2.2 million, the RIGV-02 for 2.6 million, and the standard version of the RIGV-02V for 1.9 million. The 02V also comes in a version without the force field that sells for 1.7 million. The prices may seem a little high, but with the aid of the forcefield, these vehicles are comparable to tanks, and almost twice as fast. Adventures and mercenaries are buying the Doom Buggy's at a rate that is close to exceeding production. Prices may soon rise as a result.
