The first Stewart we have in our family, so far is Robert Stewart born in Edinburgh, Scotland the 6th of January 1834. He and his brother (whom we think was named Samual) came to United States with a friend they had met in England, named John Holland.
These two men had become very good friends and also fell in love with each others sisters. After they got established they sent for their respective sisters, Bella Stewart and Jane Holland. Upon their arrival, they married the two girls.

It is believed that Robert's father was also named Robert and his Mother was thought to be Isabelle Agnew.
---1a. Robert Stewart (born 6 Jan 1834 Edinburgh, Scotland-- died 23 Sept 1909 Lewiston, Maine.)and Jane Holland (born 27 Nov. 1832 England-- died22 Feb. 1904 Lewiston, Maine). hey moved to Lewiston, Maine where they made their home on a nice sized farm. Here they had at least six children.
--------2a. Richard, (born 1858-- died _______ married Hannah Maria Mottram. They had at least five children:
------------3A. Charles, 3B. Edith, 3C. Emma 3D.Jennie 3E. Bertha.
--------2b. Robert born 1863 marrying (1st) Mary Ann Roninson. They had at least four children:
------------3A. Robert, 3B. James, 3C. Nelson 3D. Agnes (Mary Ann died in child birth after Agnes was born, I have been told. Hope to have more information about this line of family soon.
-------(2nd) Lillian ___________. They had no issue.
--------2c. Nancy born in 1861, died in young womanhood and never married.
--------2d. Samuel (born 1870-- died 1934) married Margaret Swelt and they had two daughters Ethel and Florence.
--------2e. Joseph (born 1872-- died 1936) Married (1st) Alfretta Lenentine and (2nd) Martha Glover. He sired three daughters; Mabel, Lillian and Josephine.
--------2f. Isebel gertrude (born 6 July 1875 in Lewiston, Maine

She died 12 Feb 1912 Pawtucket, Rhode Island) She married (1st) Sidney Varney (7 July 1896 Auburn, Maine and divorced him) and (2nd) George Joseph Acheson (born 5 July 1877 Lincoln, RI. --He died 29 Aug. 1912) They were married on 19 Jan. 1903 in Berlin, New Hampshire. They had four children that we know of: ------------3a. George Robert (born 21 Jan. 1904 Lewiston, Maine--(See the ACHESON section for more on him) ------------3b. Isabel May (born Lewiston, Maine)- deceased. Married Harold Newton (deceased)and they had one daughter Elizabeth. ------------3c. Lillian Gerturde (born Lesiston, Maine) still living. Married Milton Chapman. They had one son, Robert. ------------3d. There was also a son was also still born.
