A Brief Story of Our Love
He met her daughters on-line,
and sent everyone Christmas presents, T-shirts,
pictures, books, and more.
She wanted to travel and meet him
and his family but had no money at the time.
He wanted reality so they stayed as friends
but love was so strong that one day he got on a plane!
He beat the mosquitoes, the rain, and the traffic jams,
and ate rice and beans Puerto Rican style.
They kissed, and discovered
their love was for real,
there was a feeling between them,
a feeling of being just right!
He went back to Oklahoma, and wasn’t so sure
if waiting or moving was the next step on his road.
Days passed by…she missed him so much,
and the great thing was he missed her a lot.
They talked about alternatives, and struggled a bit,
and finally he said
‘I’ll move to Puerto Rico, and I’ll be your guy!’
In November, 1999, he joined his future bride.
The planning continued, the search for a job,
financial struggles, and family issues, matured their love.
He suffered a heart attack…
( some said too much love!)
and they endured the trials, for God was their strength.
With time he recovered, and with the help of his parents,
her parents, relatives, and friends,
they celebrated their wedding,
in a park filled with trees
and the sounds of the birds, near the ocean.
The bride was late, and it was a hot day,
but the ceremony was so beautiful,
flowers so delicate, food was plenty,
and there was a white, beautiful,
delicious wedding cake!
It was lots of work, and many helped out.
They had a fun day and later that day
left San Juan to start their camping honeymoon.
Cody Dog went with them.
They took lots of pictures,
and ate lots of sandwiches.
It was a great time, they’ll always remember!
They’re back home now, with the girls,
the cats, the dogs, the cleaning,
the laundry, the cooking,
but always, always with lots of love…
That’s all? Not at all….
