My herbs are either wildcrafted or I obtain them from organic growers. Matter of fact, I consume most of these myself. In part, that is how this all started. I needed uncontaminated, organic, pure herbs and related products for my health. When I found a few worthy companies, I went for it. After years of doing that, I  now wish to offer the same quality products to others.

Also, I have to admit, happily, this is a dream come true. I always wanted my work to be herbs and helping others. I'm starting small and will add on in time.

SUGGESTED DONATIONSI wish it was back in the day when folks could barter, or even just share for free, but in this age we all have rent to pay, food to buy and so on. Here, more than other places on my site, I have to front the money in order to even get an item for you, what to speak of make enough to help support myself. Trying to sensibly keep one foot in each world, I created  guidelines of a suggested donation to cover everything within reason.  While I do need this to be observed, there are exceptions for those who honestly, genuinely, can't meet them. Though it needs to factually be proven so I don't risk being taken advantage of in an area I have to take a loss,  plus front money, without much money to front! So, for those who are sick and genuinely can't offer the suggested donations, email and we'll talk, possibly about a sliding scale. But please be honest. If buying fast food, cigarettes, or going to the latest movie, etc., one really shouldn't be asking for a break from the monk-ess. :-) Please keep in mind I am *not* making an arm and a leg off of these.

You can now buy just a small amount of many! Only $2.00 per ounce each makes it possible for you to obtain a variety.

IMPORTANT ~ If ordering more than a few ounces of any one herb, please email me to make sure I have it, and often I can order that much for you. But will  need to know about large quantities before I can promise anything.

Currently, I have CHINESE BULK HERBS.

SIBERIAN GINSENG (eluthrerococci or wu cha seng wu jia seng). This is a RARE medicinal herb. Yes, many products are labeled Siberian Ginseng, but few are the real thing. My sources tell me, this is it! Siberian Ginseng has been scientifically tested by the Russians to enhance athletic performance, is an adoptogen and helpful in autoimmune hypothyroidism and probably other autoimmune diseases. Good support for the adrenals without over-stimulating them, as this is a mellow Ginseng. It is said to reinforce memory, improve functions of the brain, speed recovery time of sore muscles, reduce stress, etc. Dietary supplement. Currently I have this herb in  powdered form.

Stimulates the immune system, has been useful in hypothyroidism, especially when combined with most any of the herbs on this page. Never take Epimedium on an empty stomach as this causes vomiting and dizziness in some people. Also, combine with other herbs which will not only reduce this effect, but is helpful and synergistic. Use in small quantities but worth it. Dietary supplement. Currently - Out of stock but I can make a special order. Email me.

Epimedium - bulk, 1 ounce, $2.00

It inhibits prostaglandins (pain instigators) by breaking down proteins (it's a proteolytic enzyme) which counteracts inflammations, pain, and swollen tissues. And as many know by now, has been scientifically proven to be great for motion sickness and a queezy stomach in general. Some have also found a good dose of Ginger helps headaches including migraines (this herb goes up), can even replace aspirin for some, increases absorption of most meds therefore check to see if dose might require adjustment & lowering, good for water retention, lowering cholesterol, antihistamine, has helped some with fibromyalgia, increases bile production, decreases fat absorption, breaks it down and helps keep it from turning into arterial plaque, possibly better than garlic (no more bad breath!), ETC. This is a blood thinner so check your meds. Dietary supplement. Currently - pieces.

Chinese Ginger Root - bulk, 1 ounce, $2.00

SCHIZANDRA BERRIES (wu we zi) An adoptogen, nourishes yin, generates fluids, reputed to lower elevated liver enzymes in some patients with chronic hepatitis, increases vitality, tonifies and protects heart, liver, lungs. helpful in nerve weakness, stabilizes nervous system, CFS or other stress related issues, reputed to treat cerebral ischemia (stroke or blockage of blood flow to the brain), increases antidepressant effects and endurance, said to protect the liver remarkably. (Coming Soon)

After I read scientific studies on the power of Elderberry Extract (not pills!) over the flu, and developing a case of the flu myself, I gave elderberry a try.

Now in the past I have used golden seal and echinacea to treat influenza for years -- ok decades. :-) It was always more efficient for me than allopathic meds had been for others. (Just my personal experience.) The point being, I was pretty well sold on the herbs I had all ready been using. However, there were never studies making claims as powerful for them in comparison to elderberry, specifically Sambucol.

Keeping that in mind, I tried Sambucol Elderberry extract next time I came down with the flu. I was happily surprised to find my own results matched closely with the claims I had read via scientific studies!

Yet one friend told me, "I tried that elderberry when I had the flu last time, and it wasn't as great as you said it was for you." I had to think. Why did it work for me and not her? Of course, knowing her nature a bit :-) I asked, "How often did you take it? What doae?" To which she replied, "One teaspoonful twice a day."  ~~ Well, that certainly is not enough to achieve the goal.

At the time I could not find the paper which gave the exact dose, but I remembered it was quite a bit. Therefore I took a teaspoonful every hour or two at first, then lessening it to two teaspoonfuls every hour (same day), and finally every three hours. When I awoke the next morning I initially thought I was completely over it. I wasn't, but that's how much of a difference it made! After all, I had the full-blown flu before I even started, so this was excellent results IMHO. But I still had a 'small' fever. Therefore I continued to take it, 1 teaspoon about every 2-3 hours the rest of that day. Next day, I had no flu symptoms at all!

Later I found a paper on the studies (below), and discovered my dose was very similar to what was recommended, just that I took it more often this way.

Now mine is only anecdotal and I can't make promises for anyone else. Here are the studies I read:

On Dr. Weil's site he states:

"The study that first demonstrated Sambucolís effects was published in the winter 1995 issue of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. Scientists treated both children and adults who developed flu while living on a kibbutz in Israel. Of 27 patients in this double-blind study, some were treated with Sambucol and some with a placebo for three days. Children took two tablespoons daily and adults took four of the pleasant-tasting liquid. No one had received flu shots. Of those who took Sambucol almost all recovered completely within two to three days. Those taking the placebo recovered in six days. The active substances in Sambucol believed responsible for its effects are three flavonoids with antiviral properties.

A more recent laboratory study of three different Sambucol formulations, tested on blood from 12 healthy donors, showed that they increased production of inflammatory cytokines, which are immune system mediators. This finding indicates that Sambucol might help activate a healthy immune system and possibly be useful for boosting immunity in cancer and AIDS patients. The research took place at the Immunology Laboratory for Tumor Diagnosis, Department of Oncology, Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel."

Of course, more studies are asked to be preformed (aren't they always?). All I can say is, it worked for me, everyone is individual. I won't go one winter without it anymore.

Some have told me of a hankering to harvest their own herbs. That's wonderful though should only be done if you recognize them without a doubt. Some plant look-alikes are poisonous. Another important point often missed is that one should not harvest herbs which are near driveways, highways, parking lots, even some lawns, etc. They have been exposed to car exhaust, weed killer, community spraying, etc., and are toxic! Even birds won't eat berries that grow near a roadside or similar. I have seen people gathering berries at wooded roadsides, excited to find them since the birds had eaten all the others in the back, wondering how the birds could have missed these, as they filled their baskets. Now you know why. The birds didn't miss them, they rejected them. You should too.
