These are the latest additions to my pastel gallery.
A very uncomplicated piece which again reflects a bayou theme. Although the setting could have been portrayed as dreary as the photo it was referenced from. I choose to use golden tones to bring a sense of warmth and light to it.
Title: "Amber Dawn"
This painting is a newer favorite of mine. In this piece I experimented by giving every aspect of it a dreamy soft feel except for the barn and silo, which were done in sharp detail. The richly colored sky took as long to do as the rest of the painting. I am extremely proud of the results.
Title: "Meditative Reflection"
This picture was again a study I did of trees for a childrens art class. I thought it came out so well I would include it.
Title: "August"
This piece is another nature study. It is also an experiment in back lighting. I love this piece because it is not apparent whether the wolf is seeking shelter or on the hunt.
Title: "Safe Haven"
I love trains, this one was done for a friend who restores old steamers in Perris California.
Title: "Prairie Roller"
These next two are more drawings than pastels. They need little introduction other than they were the finest comedy team in history. Titles: "Stan" and "Ollie"
This picture is one of my late father's favorites as well as mine. The subject is a scribe who hand copies Torahs on scrolls for Jewish Synagogs. Title: "The Scribe"
The composition is off on this one. But is rendered well. Title: "Meadow"
