A collection of some of my best pastels

I must preface this showing by stating the following. Although I have been painting since I was 10 years old. I only began doing pastels in 1994. I had an instant affinity for them. As I tell my students,

"EVERYBODY IS AN ARTIST, ONE ONLY NEEDS TO DISCOVER HIS OR HER PERFECT MEDIA"

This is mine. Enjoy the show.

This is the first in a series of nature studies,
a 3'x2' pastel on white illustration board.
It is titled, "Moonlit Mouser"

This one is almost full size. Title: "Hunkering Down"

This is the last of my scanned nature pieces
It is simply titled, "Shhhh..."

This incredibly simplistic piece was a subject I did with a group of fourth and fifth graders.
I found it a good subject because it is a simple horizontal line, a triangle and an arc with just
a suggestion of trees on the left and simple black silhouettes highlighted will vibrant green.
The rainbow existed in the original reference piece and was exaggerated for effect.
Title, "Meadow"

This one is a gift I did for a young niece.
It was an experiment with pastels on gray velvet mat board.
Title, "Tiger"

Another experiment on dark brown velvet. Title, "Solitude"

The following one is one of my favorites,
It is done on gold canson paper. It is titled, "Bayou"
