Maine Coons are very athletic though not particularly graceful (coordinated). They are not hyper or decidedly destructive, yet bored or lonely Maine Coons can turn into hoodlums quite quickly. They have fine senses of humor and enjoy practical jokes. Never assume your Maine Coon is content to just sit and watch you engaging in fun activities, more likely it will be right in the thick of things! When they want love it is best to give in and let them have their way with you, because they are a cat that will never say die and their stamina is incredible! Their most inspiring quality is their uncanny ability to know what you are thinking and to respond, always with love and surprising wisdom.
Maine Coons have relatively low maintenance fur for a long hair breed, although the coat varies in type from cat to cat. The average male is 12 to 15 lb., a large male is 15 to 20 lb. Don't let the weight fool you. A 15 lb. Maine Coon is BIG! They have long, tall frames and carry very little extra fat as a rule.
