B'Elanna is the ships chief engineer, Miral's (B'Elanna's mom) strict Klingon beliefs ruined her marriage to B'Elanna's human dad, (John) and ruined a good mother-daughter relationship. her mother died in 2376, dishonored by B'Elanna's rejection of the Klingon traditions. B'Elanna having joined the Starfleet Accadamy left after only the second year to join the Maquis, despite having impressed several lecturers one imparticuly Professor Chapman left a note in her record for readmission sould she change her mind and want to come back.

B'Elanna is quick to temper and often blames most of her folts and problems on her Klingon side. She still does not believe in her traditional Klingon rituals, although she has had small changes of heart on accasion and tried to conect with her heritage.

B'Elanna is used to pushing people away from her when ever they try to get close, so much so that when Chakotay her freind and Maquis captain tries to introduce her to her animal guide B'Elanna kills it!! B'Elanna joined Chakotay's Maquis Cell after her saved her life, since then she has found her place and people she could trust and be apart of. In 2371 after her ship and crew mates are abducted by the Caretaker B'Elanna and crew are forced to make changes and join the Starfleet ship Voyager. where she is made Chief Engineer after a good word from Chakotay.

Despite many clashes with the crew B'Elanna has had most with Seven of Nine when the ex drone joins the crew in 2374. B'Elanna despite first resenting Janeway eventually comes to respect her and is happy for her new found familly.

Finding Love

B'Elanna and Tom's relationship is far from a smooth one, starting after Vorik transmitted a vulcan imbalance to her while he was on undergoing the Vulcan Pon Farr. Because of this imbalance she starts to show more than an interest in Tom, while on an away mission to gather material for the ship. To resolve the matter after spending time avoiding B'Elanna's wouldbewelcomed advances Tom is told by Tuvok her time is up aand he must help her resolve the Pon Farr. As the two get started Vorik shows up and askes to fight for her B'Elanna takes the fight and the two resolve the Pon Farr by fighting.

After this Tom and B'Elanna's relationship starts, and after time and many tests the two are married and by the end of Voyagers journey have their first child a girl called ?
